I had Professor John Pesek for State and Local Government during my last year of law school, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I’d just been appointed to city council, and I was trying to wrap my head around what it meant to serve—legally, ethically, practically. Professor Pesek didn’t just teach the material. He genuinely cared about what his students were working through, both inside and outside the classroom.

He took an interest in me—not just as a student, but as someone trying to do right by the people I served. As the city attorney in Rogers, he brought real-world experience to our class and backed it up with steady guidance and common sense. When I had questions about my role or how to navigate the gray areas, he made time for me. That made a big difference.

Now, as a practicing attorney, I look back on that class often. The law is complicated, and public service can be even more so—but the way John approaches both is steady, fair, and grounded in real values. I’ve seen how he thinks, how he leads, and how he treats people.

He’ll make a great judge. And I’m proud to support him.

John came to work for the City of Rogers in 2019 while I was serving as Chief of Police.  He immediately impressed me with his knowledge of the law, demeanor, and helpful approach to the needs of the Rogers Police Department.  I relied heavily on John to make important decisions for the operation and future of RPD for the rest of my tenure as Chief.  John was always ready to jump in and tackle issues affecting public safety in Rogers.

As a member of the Rogers City Council, I continue to rely on John to provide valuable insight and legal advice to the myriad of issues brought before the Council.  I trust John's judgment without question and cannot recommend him enough for the office of Circuit Judge, Division 5.
